Hello Friends

I’m a writer, artist, wife, and over-caffeinated mom. Enneagram 9. INFP. I’m a liberal misfit Jesus-lover who likes long walks on the beach, honey-habanero lattes, and Zoloft. After spending over a decade in the ministry world, I now write and create full time.

I’m Kimberly, she/her,

The Exvangelical Parent.

It’s really lovely to meet you. Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world.

So what’s an “exvangelical?” Exvangelical, (short for ex-evangelical), means different things to different people. For me, it means that I was raised in a highly conservative Christian faith tradition, and I don’t feel comfortable with aligning myself with that way of thinking anymore.

For the last several years, I’ve been in the process of deconstructing and reconstructing my faith, and I don’t yet know where I’ve landed.

(Perhaps landing at all isn’t the point.)

Now, as parents, my husband and I are trying to impart morality, ethics, empathy, compassion, and social justice to our child without making those things irrevocably interwoven with a conservative faith tradition. It’s a journey, and we are figuring it out as we go.

You can find my work on Scary Mommy, The Mighty, The Huffington Post, The Natural Parent, Parent Co, Her View From Home, Columbia Mom, and on Facebook.

You can find my artwork at my Etsy shop, Finn and the Whale.

Talk soon? I’d love to hear from you
